owning your own work at an end?

This article was just brought to my attention and as an artist the thought scares me. Up until now we have had passive copyright laws that bassically mean as soon as you create something you are the owner of that work unless you sell it or give it away to some one else. If this article is correct the government seems to be planning on doing away with that and privatizing copyright registration to private companies. from what Ive found so far it sounds like if you dont "PAY" these private companies for your copyright than your work is an orphaned work, and any one and their brother can steal it and use it as their own because you didnt want to ( or couldnt afford to) pay some one after you busted your butt to create it.

like I said this was just brought to my attention, so I havent had time to really dive into it too much, but I thought I should pass it along to anyone who cares about their art, and owning their own work free and clear.

Afterall you worked to create it... you should have to then turn around and pay out the rear to some shmuck who just wants to make a buck off of your hard work right? PALEASE!

Haha I have indeed, just not so much wit hthe art lately. I've really been double timing it for getting Scorpéo Jewel done. and now Im also in preproduction for another episode of Scorpéo. Im wanting to make them into a bunch of minisodes to put online and get people interested in the story so we can do the book... that is if you are still on for the project whenever we get ready for it.

However, before you get too excited, you will notice it is quite bare. This is were I need your help.

I am going to put you in BSG character format. For an example look here. [link] Please answer the following in best BSG fashion.

#1: Name (Real or made up)

#2: BSG Colony of Origin

#3: Callsign

#4: Role on Galactica or other ship. Keep it real. You cannot be XO or Deck Chief or anything major. For example, you could be a marine or deck hand, or even captain of a ship (once again, keep it real. If you need some ideas, find a ship name here [link]

#5: Parents or relatives (real or made up) if they survived Cylon attack.

well the films are live actions films with real actors and Im not sure if it will be small comics or large comics, but I would love to have more than just one. That's still a little ways down the road though. Im just trying to get the films done now :)

well I would like to get it off the ground as a comic too, but for now Im planning on making three short films for the title. Then when those are done the plan is to do a comic to go along with the films.

Pretty much, I mean in some places the oak trees look a little thin, and out on the beach there are still houses that are being rebuilt but its not like you drive around and see blue FEMA tarps on everyone's roofs any more. So all in all, I'd say its pretty much all back to normal. Thanks for the shout out man :)
